Developing one’s own brand can be a process of self-discovery if treated correctly. For my own mark, I found myself just straddling the line between the authentic and the refined, landing ultimately on a dynamic handwritten logotype that embodies my decisions as a designer.
Some explorations in motion design. The importance of time-based media on today's information landscape cannot be understated. Using design in motion allows for deeper storytelling and the ability to walk the consumer through the information.
Here we see an exploration of concept from a more literal interpretation of a local band’s name to a visual representation of their music’s sound and message.
Playing with typographic treatments even when the desired style is achieved is one of the most interesting moments of problems solving during the design process.
As a music lover, finding ways to visually represent composed sound is incredibly rewarding. Town Meeting’s single
“Good Enough” takes a look from the
inside out, a standout track from their album
“From the Green”, a compilation of songs
that invoke the warm comfort of home, illustrated by framed vignettes of a
lackadaisical living room scene.
This project depicts my ideal festival line up. It was an experiment in stylistic breadth, and keeping information adaptable to different genres of design.
Between the three posters, logistical information was kept concise and readable while preserving compositional integrity.
One of the most important responsibilities of
a designer is to simplify complex information across a diverse audience.
These blurbs of technical information are
meant to help translate and summarize several
different topics in a comprehensive package.
In exploring 2D space, designers need to find a way to convey depth or volume to make a piece visually interesting. While using bold typographic sense, contrast of color, as well as a combination of layering and perspective, these posters create a fitting visual narrative for their respective films.
Analyzing data and visualizing it is the very foundation of graphic design. In combining it with a field for which data previously didn’t exist, a compelling subject meets a visually interesting delivery system and the viewer has no choice but to be mesmerized.
This infographic takes a look at the number of unique words among a selection of eight rappers’ first 35,000 lyrics in their discography, and compares the size of their vocabulary to their commercial success.
While there is something to be said about interpreting another’s research, completing a project from scratch, from, ideation, to research, to graphics generation, to composition, is a fulfilling task unlike many others in any fields. This project allowed me to explore the complete process of showing researched data in a way that made sense from my own ideations of what that data represents.
The aesthetic qualities of the portrayal of information in a print format becomes increasingly important as print pieces become less standard as primary sources of media. This project explores organization and hierarchy, while maintaining unity both over the course of the entire piece, as well as within the different elements of which the piece is composed.
Problem solving without a problem sometimes feels like experimentation, and whether experimenting with ambigrams, or the representation of forms, a designer expanding their repertoire of design elements is an everlasting process.
